Note on the Organization of Tunes
The tunes in each section of this book have not been arranged in alphabetical order, as they were
in The Irish Folk Club Tunebook and The Celtic Society Tunebook, nor in strict order of key and
mode as in Breathnach's Ceol Rince na hEireann. Instead, they are meant to put groups of tunes
together that are related either musically or by their titles. In addition, each song has been set to
occupy a single page or a pair of facing pages, and each dance tune has been set to occupy part of
a single page complete with title and annotations. The Index includes all the titles and their vari-
ants and alternatives in alphabetical order.
Note on the Second Revised Printing
Since the first printing of The Co. Champaign Irish Tunebook, Vol I, a few errors have been dis-
covered in the tunes and the arrangements, and further and more correct information has been received
about the histories of several of the tunes, mainly through IRTRAD-L. These corrections and ad-
ditions have been incorporated into this revised printing. To the information sources listed in the
Preface, Larry Mallette [LM] must be added.
