The "session" (or seisun, in Irish) is a gathering of people for the purpose of experiencing traditional music... either singing, playing, or dancing. Our sessions are open sessions, and anyone who is interested is invited to attend. You can play an instrument, sing a song, tell a few jokes, or just sit and listen. Sessions are regularly scheduled several times each month. (See below for actual dates, times and driving directions for all sessions.) In the Little Rock area on the 2nd & 4th Mondays of the month we have session at Cregeen's Pub at 301 N Main, North Little Rock. In Conway on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of the month we have a session at Something Brewing.
There are also ongoing regular 'sister sessions' in Altus, Fayetteville and Fort Smith. Please email us for dates and contact information for these sessions. Click HERE for lists of the tunes that one would normally hear played at a typical ACMS session. This information is to assist new players when deciding which tunes to practice for session. To see the tunes contained in tunebooks normally used by ACMS players click here or here. All tunes are "traditional" and they are readily available on the Internet.
